After hours care

Aftercare

FHPPS provides a safe, fun and relaxed Aftercare facility - an extension of the home - offering the children a secure, happy and enjoyable environment after school.

`

The costs required to keep this facility in place have increased considerably, especially considering we include a cooked lunch every day. We do realise that many working parents depend on this facility being available, and have tried to keep the cost affordable.

Aftercare Fees for 2026 have increased slightly, and in order to keep them affordable, we need commitment from parents upfront whether their children will be using this facility or not, so we can plan the staffing and resources.

Please note:

We are no longer able to offer an ‘ad hoc’ Aftercare service. The only exception to this will be in the case of a family emergency, where a once off fee will be charged.

The Aftercare Facility only operates during school terms. Half Day collection time will remain until 15h30 and Full Day collection time until 18h00.

Note that late pick-ups will be charged for, at a rate of R30.00 for Half Day and R60.00 for Full Day.

Aftercare Fees will continue to include a cooked lunch, afternoon fruit and snacks for the children.

The aftercare programme is managed by Shante and her capable team:

  • The Little Flipper class is supervised by their own teachers and assistants for the afternoon in their own area.
  • The Turtle children remain in their own class until they wake up around 2pm from their rest and they are joined by the full day children in the Rainbow and Penguin classes at 3.30pm and they are looked after for the afternoon.
  • Shante, and Andre look after the Angelfish and Shark classes together with the after care assistants for the afternoon. Their own assistants from the morning do the hand over and work until 3pm and then leave the children in the capable hands of the aftercare team. (The Shark and Angelfish classes rest from around 12.45pm until around 1.30pm/2pm and then are taken to the Stay and Play room where they have a story and are able to do art activities or play in the garden.)

Daily Aftercare Routine

A typical weekly menu during winter would be:

Monday: Spaghetti
Tuesday: Chicken strips, rice and veg
Wednesday: Macaroni and cheese
Thursday: Fish Fingers, mash and veg
Friday: Sausage, baby potatoes and cucumber slices
